It takes 2.5 braille pages to produce one page of a primary school book and 3 braille pages to produce a secondary school book
A primary school pupil needs 48 titles to see him or her through school and a secondary student needs a further 32 titles.
$ 2,000 will ensure that a bling pupil will have a set of books for primary education. The estimated life span of a braille book is about two to three years, after which it will require replacing.
A blind learner require costly assistive devices such as a Perkins Brailler, Talking calculator, Abacus, Braille writing slate and stylus etc. for their learning
A pen for a sighted person costs $ 0.2 while a pen (Perkins Brailler) for a blind person costs $ 900. However, a well maintained Perkins brailler has a shelf life of over 20 years and hence it will be used by many blind learners once bought.
A white cane that aid the blind person in mobility cost $ 10
